TEXTCRAWL · YOUR PRIVACY
TextCrawl Privacy Policy
Effective October 16, 2026
TextCrawl is an app from COOKOO TECHNOLOGIES (SMC-PRIVATE) LIMITED. This policy covers the TextCrawl Android and iOS apps and the services they use. The COOKOO website has a separate privacy policy.
Your choices at a glance
You can write, edit, preview and record stories manually without an account or AI. AI is optional and requires sign-in and your permission to send text to OpenAI. Optional Microsoft Clarity analytics is off until you turn it on. Advertising consent and available privacy choices are handled separately.
Stories and recordings on your device
Stories, crawl settings and chosen media are stored on your device. Photos, music and microphone access are used for the features you choose, such as picking a background, adding music or recording a video. Recordings are saved locally or to your photo library when you choose to save them. Using these manual features does not send your stories or recordings to OpenAI. Sharing a recording sends it to the app or person you select under that service’s own terms.
Accounts and cloud features
We use Google Firebase Authentication for sign-in. When you choose Google or Apple, we receive an account identifier and the profile information your provider shares, such as your name and email address. Apple may provide a private relay email instead of your personal address. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
Our Firebase service stores your account status, app version, AI allowance and reward records, and service or security records needed to operate your account. Where cloud backup is available and enabled, stories and settings are stored in Firebase and associated with your account. Signing in alone does not upload recordings.
AI writing and OpenAI
Before your first AI request, we ask for explicit permission to share text with OpenAI through our Firebase service. For a story, we send the idea you enter, tone, length and any selected occasion. For a rewrite, we send the selected text and your instructions. Text you enter may contain personal information; please avoid sensitive information, passwords or details about other people without their permission.
OpenAI processes this text to return a generated story or rewrite. We do not intentionally include your account email or name in the model request, unless you type those details into your text. We request that OpenAI not store the generated response as an API response object; this does not eliminate OpenAI’s service or safety logging. OpenAI’s own data handling terms also apply: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy/
Our Firebase service temporarily caches AI request metadata and results to handle retries and avoid charging your allowance twice. Request records have a 24-hour expiry for reuse; expired records may remain until database cleanup or account deletion. Stories you choose to save remain on your device and, where enabled, in your cloud backup.
You can decline permission and continue writing and recording manually. For help with consent or requests concerning AI data, contact hello@cookoo.dev. Processing already completed cannot be undone by declining future requests.
Ads and rewarded stories
TextCrawl uses Google AdMob for ads. Some Android ad placements may also use Meta Audience Network through mediation. Advertising services may process device and app identifiers, IP address and approximate location inferred from it, ad interactions, and diagnostic information to deliver ads, prevent fraud and measure performance.
Where required, a consent form is shown before ads can be requested. When the consent service provides a privacy-options form, you can reopen it using Settings → Privacy → Ad preferences. You can also manage permissions in your device settings. The app does not require permission for cross-app tracking to use manual writing or recording.
Watching a rewarded ad is optional and can grant one extra AI story after your free allowance. The server stores a reward identifier and allowance counters to prevent duplicate claims. Rewards do not require a review or rating. Google’s privacy information: https://policies.google.com/privacy . Meta’s privacy information: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/ .
Optional usage analytics
Microsoft Clarity session analytics is disabled by default. If you enable Settings → Privacy → Help improve TextCrawl, Clarity receives masked usage sessions, screen interactions, app and device information, and session identifiers to help us understand usability. We mask the app content and do not intentionally send your story text, sign-in details or inquiry message in analytics events. We do not use Clarity to identify you by your account email.
You can turn optional analytics off at any time in Settings. This stops further session collection; previously collected information remains subject to Microsoft’s retention and privacy practices. See https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement . Ad measurement and essential service diagnostics are separate from this optional setting.
Subscriptions
Android offers optional subscriptions through Google Play, with RevenueCat used to manage subscription status. These services process transaction and entitlement information associated with an app account identifier. We do not receive your full payment-card details. The initial iOS release does not offer subscriptions or in-app purchases. Cancel an Android subscription in Google Play; deleting a TextCrawl account does not itself cancel a store subscription. Feedback and contacting COOKOO
If you submit feedback, we receive the message and any contact details you provide through Firebase. If you use “Tell us your idea”, COOKOO receives your name, email address, project idea, selected need and optional budget, plus the app version, platform, locale and source card. Inquiries are processed through our Firebase / Google Cloud service and delivered to our inbox using Resend. They are not published or added to a marketing list.
If an inquiry cannot be sent, it may be stored on your device and retried when you reconnect. Unsent inquiries older than 14 days are dropped. Sent inquiries and support correspondence are kept as needed to respond, discuss a project and meet business or legal obligations. See https://cookoo.dev/contact-privacy .
Retention, deletion and your rights
Local stories and recordings remain until you delete them or the app’s local data. Copies you save to Photos or send to another service must be deleted there separately. Cloud account records are kept while the account is active and as needed for security, billing, support or legal obligations. Expiry-based records may remain until automated cleanup runs, and service logs or backups may be retained under the relevant provider’s settings.
You can request deletion in Settings → Delete cloud account. We ask you to confirm and reauthenticate, then delete your Firebase account and its cloud data and request deletion of the linked RevenueCat customer record. For Apple accounts, we also revoke Apple authorization. If a billing-service deletion fails, an integration recovery record may be kept to complete the request; those records have a 90-day expiry. Local stories remain unless you erase them separately.
To request access, correction or deletion, or to ask about information held by our service providers, email hello@cookoo.dev. Depending on your location, you may have rights to object to processing, withdraw consent or complain to a data protection authority. We may need to verify your request before acting.
Service providers and international processing
We use Firebase / Google Cloud, Google and Apple authentication, OpenAI, advertising providers, RevenueCat, Microsoft Clarity when enabled, and Resend for the purposes described above. They may process information in countries other than yours under their applicable privacy and data processing terms. We do not sell your stories or inquiry messages. We take reasonable measures to protect data, but no device, network or service is completely secure.
Children and changes to this policy
TextCrawl is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. Please contact hello@cookoo.dev if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can investigate and address it.
We may update this policy as the app changes. The current version and its effective date are published at https://cookoo.dev/textcrawl/privacy-policy . Material changes to AI sharing will require a new consent choice in the app.
